2010, the year when online information must be purchased?

The UK’s ‘Financial Times’ and the ‘Wall Street Journal’ in the US have introduced a pay model. The ‘New York Times’ and France’s ‘Le Monde’ also intend to pull some articles from their site. Feature articles in particular, taken from the paper version, will only be available to those who pay for them. Readers would be able to read some articles for free every month. But once this quota is exceeded, they would have to delve into their purses and wallets. Information of this kind is causing quite a stir in the media world and raises questions for many media experts. Among them is Dominique Deckmyn, head of ‘De Standaard online’.
